Who is Traveling With You?

We travel with our 2 furbabies. Fitz is our 3 yr old Miniature Schnauzer and Daisy Grace, is our 1 yr old Border Pointer.

How Long Have You Been On The Road?

We’ve been on the road for almost 6 years.

Are You Part Time or Full Time?

Full-time

What Kind of RV Do You Have?

For the first 5 years we traveled in a 40ft Montana 5th Wheel, and now we travel in a 41ft Monaco Windsor Diesel Pusher Class A Motorhome.

What Got You Interested In Living The RV Life?

The love of travel and being able to explore new places. Once we became empty nesters, we knew we wanted to get away from the crappy Midwestern weather, but we couldn’t agree on where we wanted to move. So we decided that we would buy an RV and tour around the US, kind of interviewing everywhere we went, as a potential future home base for us.

How Do You Fund Your Travels?

Steve works a full time 40 hours a week corporate job and has worked remotely in the corporate sector for 20 years.

What is Your Camping Style?

We typically do a mix of camping. We love to try and boondock off-grid whenever we can, taking advantage of some of those amazing views you can’t typically get in a campground. We also like to utilize our Thousand Trails membership staying in those campgrounds/resorts whenever we need to, especially when boondocking isn’t an option. Depending on where we’re heading, we typically like to stay put for 2-3 weeks, before moving on to a new location.

What Do You Seek Out When Traveling?

Sometimes we’ll seek out places where our friends are, so that we can hang out and be social and sometimes we’ll seek out places that we can just be alone and decompress from too much peopling. And sometimes we’ll go to or near an area that a convergence is going to be held, and we’ll explore that area, discovering local restaurants & shops or sometimes we’ll just hang out with friends. We make an effort to get to any National Parks we are nearby and we do eventually want to go to all them, but we don’t have a set timeline for doing so. Wherever we happen to end up, we really just love to get out and explore.

What Has Been Your Favorite Experience So Far?

For Steve, it would be hiking Angels Landing in Zion National Park. For Amy, it would probably be a toss up between getting to see Old Faithful at Yellowstone NP or getting to see Niagara Falls, both of which were longtime bucket list to do’s.

What Has Been The Hardest Aspect For You While Traveling?

For the most part, this lifestyle has not been very hard for us. Yes, we’ve had ups and downs with RV repairs etc, but that’s to be expected when your driving a cardboard box all over the country. Travel did become extremely difficult and very expensive for us, once the gas prices began to skyrocket in 2020 and continued to stay somewhat high the past few years.

How Many Xscapers Convergences Have You Attended?

The Bishop, CA Convergence will be our 23rd event to attend since becoming Xscapers in 2017.

Are You Introverted or Extroverted?

I would say that Amy is an introverted extrovert and Steve is mostly an introvert, but is getting better at being extroverted.

Tell Us Something Weird or Fun About Yourselves.

When we decided to sell our house and nearly all of our belongings to pursue living in an RV full-time, neither one of us had ever even stayed in an RV, until the night we stayed in our first RV, right after we bought it. Steve is one of the Next10 Xscapers that has one of those infamous X tattoos.  Amy is a certified a professional photographer and several years ago had her own business making customized jewelry.

Would You Rather Deal With A Leaky Sewer Hose or a Flat Tire on the RV?

Steve said definitely a leaky sewer hose.

Do You Have Any Advice For Others / What is the Best Piece of Advice You’ve Received?

We would definitely suggest taking it slow and relax, making sure to take time to just enjoy this lifestyle. Treat your journey like you’re running a marathon not a sprint.

Where Can People Find You Online If They Want To Follow Your Travels?

We’re @RobiVentures on both Facebook and Instagram.
