Escapees RV Club members look forward to gathering “together again.”

RVers Head to Wyoming for 2021 Escapade 1
Escapees RV Club Vice-President, Melanie Carr, shares a heartfelt hug with Escapade Co-Director, Jean Mathes, at the close of the 2017 Escapade. The club looks forward to sharing more moments like this with members in the coming weeks, coming together again after many months apart.

Escapade is the national rally hosted annually by Escapees RV Club. In less than two weeks, more than one thousand members will land in Rock Springs, Wyoming, excited to celebrate the sold-out event’s “together again” theme after many canceled events in 2020.

In a more typical year, Escapees hosts one large rally, Escapade, that brings together members from all over the world. RVers of all kinds, from those who travel in luxurious Class A motorhomes to those who prefer towable teardrop trailers, are welcome at Escapade. With seminars that cover a wide variety of RVing-related topics, there is something for everyone, including those who haven’t yet bought their first RV.

This year’s Escapade promises to make up for the many months members have spent apart due to the pandemic. With health and safety precautions in mind, Escapade directors, Duane and Jean Mathes have diligently worked to secure educational speakers, entertaining performers, and more to offer club members five days they won’t soon forget.

“We’re very excited to be at a new venue for Escapade. Rock Springs, WY has welcomed us with open arms. This community is excited as well to have us and the Event Center staff is great to work with.  We think this will be a great time in a great location for all of our attendees.”

Attendees can look forward to engaging seminars on topics like boondocking, domicile, mobile connectivity, workcamping, and more, presented by fellow RVers and RV professionals. While the adults are busy taking notes and soaking up information, younger RVers can head over to Kidscapade where the club’s Nomadic Families Birds-of-a-Feather group will keep them busy. “We have lots of neat activities planned for the kiddos at Escapade. I can’t wait!” shares Erica Thomas, co-founder of Nomadic Families and co-organizer for Kidscapade.

Each evening, attendees can come together for laughs, toe-tapping, and even some dancing. Sunday night, sponsored by Fantasy RV Tours, Lucy Darling promises to keep the audience guessing with her comedic spin on the art of magic. Sponsored by Sykl Power Bikes, Monday evening promises to be just as fun with live music from Few Miles South, a blend of Americana and classic country that is sure to please.

The rest of the week promises to be just as entertaining with The Status Crowes on Tuesday, bringing their reputation as “the acoustic jukebox” to Escapade for the first time (sponsored by Dish Outdoors). Wednesday, thanks to Battle Born Batteries, Escapees members take the stage with Escapade’s Got Talent, the club’s annual talent showcase for singers, musicians, comedians, actors, and anyone in between. A new tradition for Escapade, the Farewell Festival, closes the event Thursday evening with an encore performance from The Status Crowes and a street fair with local food and alcohol vendors, games, and more, sponsored by FCIS Insurance.

Though Escapade is typically open to walk-in attendees, including a Community Day where residents and visitors are welcome to check out the event for free, the 2021 event will be different. This year’s Escapade has been limited to 800 RVs to allow for easier social distancing in event spaces. Additionally, there will not be on-site registration for daily walk-ins, and unfortunately, the club has had to cancel Community Day for 2021. Club leadership and Escapade directors look forward to offering these options to the local community in 2022, if circumstances permit.
