Summerween: Where Spooky Season Meets the Southwest Sun

Carving Contest

Anything-But-a-Pumpkin Carving Contest

Put down the pumpkins and pick up... literally anything else! In this creative free-for-all, contestants carve, cut, or decorate unconventional items into spooky (or silly) masterpieces. Watermelons, pineapples, squash, turnips, cantaloupes, even bell peppers or gourds—if you can carve it, it counts! Bonus points for creativity, humor, and Summerween spirit. It's weird, it's wild, and it’s guaranteed to get messy in the best way.

Cauldron

Cauldron Collective

Step up to the bubbling heart of Summerween—The Cauldron Collective, a collaborative potion bar where everyone brings a strange, sparkly, or spooky ingredient to add to the mix! From glowing ice cubes to edible glitter, fresh herbs, flavored syrups, mystical fruits, or smoky dry ice pellets, the possibilities are delightfully weird. Mocktail recipes (and blank scrolls for your own creations) will be on hand, and guests can mix and match to craft potions like “Cactus Curse,” “Ghost Glow,” or “Vampire Sunrise.” It’s part drink station, part witch’s lab, and totally delicious. Cheers to brewing up something magical—together!

Crafts

Summerween Crafts

Get your creative juices flowing at the Spooky Crafting Corner, where Xscapers can tap into their inner artists while celebrating the eerie spirit of the season. Here, you'll find all the materials to make one-of-a-kind spooky masterpieces, like hand-painted sugar skulls, Summerween garland, and Halloween-themed flower crowns.

Spooky Showdown

Spooky Showdown

Prepare for a bone-chilling battle between the living and the undead! Who will survive the Monster vs. Human Capture the Flag and emerge victorious? Will the humans outrun (or walk) the undead in Zombie Tag, or will the creatures of the night catch them at every turn? Not to be outdone, the Creepy Carnival Games will test your skills with frightful fun and eerie prizes. It's a competition full of thrills, chills, and lots of laughs—don’t miss your chance to be part of the spooky action!

lot crawl

Costume Lot Crawl

Is it a lot crawl? Is it trick-or-treating? Is it a costume contest? It’s all three! Throw on your best spooky, silly, or sun-soaked Summerween costume and wander from rig to rig for an evening of festive fun. Each stop on the crawl becomes a mini Halloween haven—some may offer wicked treats, others delicious bites, and a few might just give you a fright! Share your favorite dishes, spooky snacks, or creepy cocktails, and enjoy a taste of the season under the New Mexico stars. Throughout the night, keep an eye out for jaw-dropping costumes—you’ll be the judge! At the end of the crawl, we’ll cast our final votes and crown the Summerween Costume Champions. Expect laughter, eerie ambiance, and more than a few delightful surprises as we bring Halloween spirit to the warmth of summer!

What to expect at an Xscapers Convergence
Is this event right for me?
Xscapers was formed to bring Escapees RV Club back to its original roots of supporting RVers who are working from the road. At Convergences, you will find a community of active and free-spirited individuals with a passion for travel and adventure.
👨‍💻
About 80% of Xscapers have full-time jobs they do remotely or seasonally. This means we typically don’t hold activities during standard work hours (with the exception of Annual Bash). Starting later in the day also means later nights. We have found that this can be a factor in deciding what event program people attend.
🌞
We try to give the most fun and entertainment value at an affordable price. One way we do that is by boondocking as much as possible. Our events are also a great way for newbie boondockers to learn from experienced ones. We try to divide our camping areas into those who have solar and those who want to run generators when possible.
🤘
Xscapers is an inclusive community, connected through the bond of RVing. This means we welcome people from all walks of life, no matter race, sexual orientation, political/religious views, lifestyle or RV type. Discrimination of any type will not be tolerated.
If this event is not right for you, please check out the other event types that Escapees has to offer like Hangouts and Hops
