Acadia National Park, lumberjacks, blueberries and more...
Our Hangout campground is just 30 minutes from Acadia National Park, the “Crown Jewel of the North Atlantic Coast.” We’ll explore some of Acadia’s seven 1,000+ foot high peaks, 158 miles of hiking trails, and 45 miles of carriage roads with 16 stone bridges. Opportunities for stunning photos are abundant among the park’s picturesque rocky headlands, the highest along the Atlantic coastline of the United States.
The Hangout will include a visit to the Fort Knox Historic Site and Penobscot Narrows Bridge & Observatory. The Observatory is the tallest bridge observatory open to the public in the world, where we’ll ride up 420′ feet for breathtaking 360 degree views of the Penobscot Bay area. We’ll also explore Bar Harbor and enjoy Timber Tina’s Great Maine Lumberjack Show, featuring axe throwing, log rolling, pole climbing, and other events demonstrating the skills of Maine’s lumberjacks and jills.
Hangout location
Our home base for the Downeast Maine Hangout will be the Acadia Seashore Campground in Sullivan, Maine, just east of Bar Harbor. The campground is located right on the coast, with many of the sites having dramatic views of the waters of Mt. Desert Narrows and Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park.
Registration includes:
- 7 nights in RV site with 30 or 50 amp electric + water (a few sites also have sewer connections)
- Welcome campfire
- Admission to Lumberjack Show
- Fort Knox Historic Site
- Penobscot Narrows Observatory
- All-you-can-dig mussels
- Local sightseeing
- Social activities
- Hangout hosts
Optional activities (additional fees will apply): National Park entry, lobster dinner, kayak rental
Hangout price
You must be an Escapees RV Club member to attend this event. If you are not currently a member, you will be able to add a new membership during the registration process.
How to register
There are two ways to register and pay: by phone or online.
To register by phone, call Escapees Member Services at (936) 327-8873 and ask for “Hangouts Registration”.To register online, click the button below and follow the instructions on your screen.
We’re sorry, but this Hangout is currently sold out. If you’d still like to attend, please join the waiting list. We’ll notify you if a spot opens up.
After you register
Watch for an email from webmaster@escapees.com for a confirmation of your registration. If you don’t receive it, call (936) 327-8873 and ask for Hangouts Registration to be sure that your registration was processed correctly.
Important: as soon as you register, please join the Escapees Downeast Maine Hangout group on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/MEhangout/). We will use this group to communicate with Hangout attendees before and during the event. You may also receive one or more emails before the Hangout with more information as needed.
Cancellation
If you cancel on or before July 11, 2019, your registration fee will be refunded minus a $50 cancellation fee. There will be no refunds for cancellations received after July 11, 2019.
By attending this event, you are agreeing to the following: As an attendee, you assume all risk and danger relating to your personal property, RV and attendance at the Hangout, whether occurring prior to, during or after the event. In the event of loss or theft, no claim will be made upon Escapees, its volunteers, employees or agents. Volunteers may be directing and assisting you in your parking areas. However, it is the driver of the vehicle who is ultimately responsible for avoiding obstacles or dangerous situations, and is solely responsible for any damage to one’s property or the property of others. As an attendee at this event, you are granting your permission to be filmed, videotaped, audiotaped, or photographed, and granting to Escapees RV Club the full use of any such recordings or images without compensation.
